Second Hand Shop

The Second-hand Shop at the East Clare Community Co-op supports the subsidised Holistic Therapies that are available at the Co-op.
The 2nd Hand Shop has been operating in its present form for over 15 yrs with Margaret McTiernan at its helm until her retirement a couple of years ago. It is run on a mainly volunteer basis with a staff supervisor and CE worker which includes Martina, Emma, Liz and Bernie, We encourage volunteers who wish to gain retail experience before applying for paid employment or just want to help a good cause whilst enjoying a friendly social atmosphere.
We are open Mon to Fri 9.30 am to 4.00pm through the year.
We accept all textiles - clothing, footwear, bedding, soft furnishings etc - which are clean and dry. Worn, ripped textiles are also accepted as these are recycled through a local charity for which we receive a small fee. We also accept old clean pillows and duvets as these are passed on for animal bedding. Bric a brac is accepted if clean and unbroken. Good condition books, puzzles and complete toys are accepted periodically - enquires should be made to the shop supervisor before donating.
Please do not be offended if we cannot accept any donations due to them not meeting our criteria - we try to reuse and recycle as much as possible but we cannot be a source for disposal of end of life electrical and household goods.
